GigAnt
Innovative service for temporary staff search
About the client
GigAnt is a service for hiring part-time staff for retail outlets and restaurants. The client came to us in 2020 at the idea stage for a promising HR startup. Now it is one of the most recognizable projects in its niche.
Task
We needed to quickly develop the first version of the service where job seekers would find part-time work near home, and companies would quickly attract staff during peak hours.
In stores, the main influx of customers occurs on weekdays after work. This leads to two main problems: long queues at checkouts and shortages of products on shelves. This results in inefficient use of working time and loss of revenue for the outlet. But hiring temporary staff can solve these problems.
It was necessary to "test" the market and assess the service's prospects to continue development as quickly as possible after receiving investments.
Solution
We created a service similar to Uber in terms of search and ease of use, but in the field of personnel hiring. It instantly matches performers and employers. This involves thousands of requests processed every minute on the platform.
First, we developed a mobile version on Flutter, then a web version with the same functionality. The project and tasks were ambitious, and deadlines were tight, as with any startup.
As a result, we met the deadlines, and the application quickly attracted the attention of future clients and investors. Therefore, the client decided to further develop the product - expand functionality and automate routine tasks.
We analyzed the service's business logic
After releasing the first version, we received initial data about the audience. We learned what kind of employees stores want to get and how performers plan their employment. Information from real users and a series of in-depth interviews helped compile a list of priority improvements.
In the future, we always tried to work in this approach: iteration - release - market feedback - clarification of the action plan. This allowed us to develop the product in line with market expectations and for the client to secure serious investments.
We paid great attention to improving the internal algorithm for finding performers for shifts. It matches important employer order parameters with job seeker profiles in the database and automatically selects suitable candidates. Up to 30 conditions are processed in seconds: time, geography, desired rates, skills, age, and others.
Automated up to 90% of all service business processes
The service involves processing thousands of applications daily, approving performers at workplaces, and other tasks. If done manually, they would lead to significant costs and low operational speed. Therefore, we focused on automating all processes and significantly reduced the share of manual labor:
Instant registration
All employee data is automatically verified through government services, and access to orders is only possible after completing training and automatic testing.
Fine-tuning job search
The performer can set the desired order search radius, shift hours, minimum rate, and even mark employers they are not willing to cooperate with.
Creating orders in two clicks
A unique algorithm selects suitable candidates for the request and sends them invitations. If an employee accepts the order, a robot calls them to confirm attendance by voice.
Work performance control via GPS
When an employee arrives at a retail outlet, they must confirm attendance in their personal account. Then the app checks that the worker is near the order location.
Automatic payment calculation
After completing a shift, the system analyzes data on rates, hours worked, fines, and debts. Payroll calculation and fund transfers to employees happen instantly.
Including all these functions and tools allowed us to almost completely eliminate the human factor. Automation positively impacted efficiency - GigAnt closes 99.2% of all requests!
Set up data collection and analytics
Our team always works using Agile: after each iteration, we collect user feedback, see what features are missing, and solve these tasks. To continuously improve the application at a higher level, we connected serious analytics systems that allow thorough monitoring of how the product audience behaves.
For example, the service collects data on each client, analyzes the load on their work points, and determines when an additional performer is needed and for how long. This allows scheduling in advance for each client and planning personnel workload.
To make analytics easier to work with, we implemented a convenient admin panel. Here, GigAnt managers study the collected data and also get involved in controversial issues that cannot be resolved without human intervention.
